Ways to support us
Fundraising
As a small independent local Charity Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People are heavily reliant on donations & income from fundraising events.
There are several ways in which you can help us to continue to support local people living with sight loss:
VISION 50
How many times can we get round Bury?
5–9 October 2026 | One Community. One Journey.
This October, people across the Borough of Bury are coming together for VISION 50 — a week-long fundraising challenge in support of Bury Blind Society and the people we help who are living with sight loss.
The idea is simple. Cycling right around the Borough of Bury — through Bury, Prestwich, Whitefield, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom and Tottington — comes to roughly 50 miles. So we've set up a static bike and challenged our clients, staff, volunteers, family, friends and supporters to clock up 50 miles a day, every day, all week.

50 Miles. 6 Towns. 1 Community.
Because VISION 50 isn't really about the miles. It's about a whole community coming together to make sure that no one living with sight loss has to face that journey alone.
Where to find us
Monday 5 October Bury Blind Society Centre
Tuesday 6 October Tesco, Bury
Wednesday 7 October Asda, Pilsworth
Thursday 8 October Millgate Shopping Centre, Bury & Bury Blind Society AGM
Friday 9 October Final day — join us at PureGym, Bury to help push the total over the line!
Come and say hello, hop on the bike for a few miles, or just cheer us on.
How you can help
You don't need to be a cyclist to be part of VISION 50. There are three simple ways to get involved:
Take part — jump on the bike at one of our locations and help us rack up the miles
Donate — every pound helps us support local people living with sight loss
Share — tell your friends, family and colleagues about VISION 50 and help the message travel further than we ever could alone
Every mile cycled, every pound raised and every share helps people across Bury stay connected, independent and confident.

Bury 10K
Yee Haw! Peter and Michael Take on the Bury 10K 🤠
A huge Yee Haw and thank you to Peter and Michael, who took on the Bury 10K on Sunday 20 September to raise funds for Bury Blind Society!
And Michael certainly made sure he stood out from the crowd – completing the race in full cowboy outfit! Who says fundraising can’t be fun?
We are incredibly grateful to Peter and Michael for taking on this challenge and going the extra mile to support Bury Blind Society. Their fantastic fundraising efforts will help us continue providing practical support, activities and opportunities for local people who are blind or partially sighted.
It takes dedication to tackle a 10K, and we’re so proud of them both for getting across that finish line and helping to raise awareness of our work along the way.
Well done, Peter and Michael – you’re both absolute stars! And Michael… we reckon that cowboy hat deserves a medal of its own!
Thank you for going the extra mile for Bury Blind Society! Sponsorship still open scan the QR code below to donate.
